Meeting Minutes


The meeting was called to order at 1305 hours by Commander Zeolla. The usual opening was made by Chaplain Norm Champagne and by Sgt. @ Arms Storrings. Judge Advocate Burns was absent. Commander Zeolla recognized past Commanders Norman Champagne and Tony Vaquero. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. The motion to accept passed. CHAPLAINíS REPORT: Past Commander Ed Grala has finished his treatment. Treasurer Bill Trouesdale presented his Treasurers Report. Complete report is on file with the Treasurer. Four members have still not paid their 2018 dues. Write a check for $10.00 payable to KWVA Chapter 105 and mail it to Treasurer Bill Trouesdale at 5093 Onondaga Road, Syracuse, N.Y. 13215. NEW BUSINESS: Sal Buonocore reported that there is an effort to change State Law so that veterans can be buried in the County Veteran's Cemetery on Onondaga Hill at no charge. Currently the charge is $500.00. The Federal Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA)) offers burial in national cemeteries at no cost. Currently there are 5 in N.Y. State: Bath and Woodlawn at Elmira are the closest. The veteran and/or eligible family member are furnished a gravesite, grave liner, opening and closing of the grave, a government furnished headstone or marker and perpetual care of the gravesite at no cost to the family. He also reported on the status of the multimillion dollar renovation of the War Memorial Building, including the fact that there will be one room which can be used, at no charge, by any veterans organization providing that organization requires no additional facilities and that the donor of the money will have the skating arena named for them. Part of the renovation includes installing an electronic listing of all battles. If anyone has a suggestion for an improvement, contact Sal for details. PARADES: Mass at Holy Family Church on Friday, May 26. Be there by 4:30 PM. Parade at the Veteran's Cemetery - Saturday, May 27 at 9:30 AM. Sunday,May 28 at Camillus. If you need a ride up the hill, be there before 8:30 as that is when the road is closed. A ride up the hill will be available at the Kayak Building. There were 18 members in attendance. The 50/50 of $20.00 was won by Tony Vaquero. The coins were won by Commander Zeolla. Bread was won by Tony, Sal and Noreen.

The next Board meeting will be on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10 AM.
